What our students say

Jacinta Spiller

GCSE English and GCSE Maths “Coming back into education after 15+ years was a daunting choice to make, but all the staff I met on my course made it such a smooth and easy transition. The support that you receive from the teachers is great and they truly go out of their way to make sure you understand and achieve your goals.”

Michelle Williams Level 3 Software Development and Level 3 Games Technologies

“When I first started, I looked at data-related roles like data analyst or data engineer because those were the jobs available when I was job searching. But with the variety of courses the College offers, I can explore different career paths. I plan to complete a Higher National Diploma (HND), which will open up even more job opportunities.”

Jonny Bond

Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Higher Apprenticeship

“Our tutor Emma is really supportive, always making sure we’re on task and prepared for our next assignments. Our shift patterns are sporadic, but having everything available whenever we have time has been really helpful. There’s no pressure – you can work at your own pace, which is great for people balancing work and family life.”

Levi Sanderson

Level 2 Dog Grooming “I worked as a dental nurse but returned to College to change careers. I now own my own business, Only Pets Groom Room, and work part-time. The course allowed me to gain valuable hands-on experience at the College’s fully equipped grooming salon, with a variety of dog breeds. I hope to return to College to study Level 3 Dog Grooming.”

Advanced Learner Loans

If you are planning to study at Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 and you are aged 19 or over (on the first day of your course) you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help pay for your course fees. This government loan is easy to apply for, your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. Plus, you will not have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000 a year. The loan pays for your qualification and is paid directly to us, so you will not have to worry about sorting payment out. It is a great way to get a qualification that you may not have previously been able to afford.

If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan to fund an Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma, then go on to complete a Higher Education course, you may be eligible to have the balance of your Advanced Learner Loan written off. However, if you do not complete either course, you will not be eligible to have the balance written off and will need to repay your loan in full. Note: Advanced Learner Loans do not cover Degrees or other forms of HE such as HNCs or HNDs. For HE funding information visit: www.gov.uk/studentfinance We encourage students to seek independent financial advice from Money Helper at: www.moneyhelper.org.uk More information about Advanced Learner Loans can be found at: www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan
